2018 SG CJ Fredrick

COVINGTON, Ky. -- After seeing 2018 SG CJ Fredrick play for the Queen City Prophets 15U at the Spiece Run N Slam in 2015, we thought he had a chance to be a good player. As a rising sophomore, CJ was a skinny guard with a good jumpshot. Since then, he has come a  long way and, by improving tremendously, has established himself as someone who can make an impact from day 1 on the college level.

Coming off a great high school season, where despite injuries, CJ lead his team in scoring with 19.7 PPG as Covington Catholic went 29-6, losing to eventual state runner-up Cooper in the 9th region championship. He established himself as of the best players in Kentucky’s 2018 class and the offers began to come in from major schools.

This long and smooth guard is an absolute knockdown shooter from anywhere on the court. He has good size and a pure jumpshot, which allows him to hit shots off the bounce or play off the ball. CJ has a great feel for the game and understands how to get into spots to burn the defense. He moves well off the ball and is automatic coming off of screens. The sharpshooter has improved his handle a lot and can also put the ball on the floor to create.

He currently holds offers from Iowa, Penn State, Xavier, Nebraska, Ball State, Northern Kentucky, Wright State, Miami OH, and Winthrop. Along with those offers, schools like Pudue, Butler, Notre Dame, Michigan, and Marshall are among the others showing interest in this lethal shooter.

Through the first 8 games on the Adidas Gold circuit, playing with Indiana Elite 17U, CJ is averaging 11.6 PPG and shooting 19-37 from deep (a 51.4% clip). The CovCath guard’s play on the circuit has established him as one of the best shooters in the Midwest. Fredrick’s ability to shoot from the outside will allow him to impact the college game from day 1 as a great piece for a team that needs shooting.
