HAMPTON, Va. -- We spent the weekend at Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton, Virginia for the first session of the Nike EYBL. The Nike league has become one of the best playeces to see talent from all over the country during the AAU season. With this past weekend being the first of 2 spring evaluation periods for D1 coaches, the gym was packed out with coaches, players, and media looking for the next big thing.

As follows are some of the top performers from the games we watched:

Keldon Johnson – 2018 SG/SF – Huntington Prep (WV) – Boo Williams 17U
After a great junior season at Huntington Prep, Keldon came into the EYBL with one thing to prove: that he belongs as an elite recruit in 2018. With the weekend he had, it would be hard to argue otherwise.  He opened the weekend with a phenomenal 34-point, 10-rebound game and never looked back. Boo Williams looked like one of the best EYBL teams and with the way this wing is playing, it’s hard for us not to see them as the favorite after the first weekend.

Cam Reddish – 2018 SF – Westtown (PA) – Team Final 17U
After establishing himself as an elite player during this past high school season, Reddish entered this EYBL season as one of the best players in the league. He did not disappoint this weekend, averaging 23.2 points per game while showing off his offensively versatility. John Calipari and Coach K were among the many head coaches who watched the swingman this weekend, and they had to leave liking what they saw.

Tyler Herro – 2018 G – Whitnall (WI) – Wisconsin Playground 17U – Wisconsin commit
Wisconsin looks very smart for locking up Tyler early on in the process. This kid can flat out go with the best of them and has swagger that is unmatched. His jumpshot is lethal from the outside and when defenders play him too tight on the outside, can facilitate for teammates or get into the paint. This guard will remind Badger fans of current lead guard Bronson Koenig and he should make an impact from the day he steps onto campus in Madison.

Nasir El-Amin – 2019 PG – Minneapolis North (MN) – Howard Pulley 16U
The son of former UConn legend Khalid and younger brother of Ball State signee Ishmael, Nasir has some game himself. The young guard is an absolute bull who can finish with either hand in the paint to go along with great vision and awareness of where his shooters are. He might not be a top-flight talent but eventually, he will make a college very happy.

Gerald Liddell – 2018 F – Cibolo Steele (TX) – RM5 Elite 17U
The versatility, on both ends of the court, of this swingman is the first thing that stood out to us. Not many players can play inside or out on both ends of the court but that’s exactly what Gerald does. His length allows his to excel going to the basket on offense while simultaneously allowing him to cause problems on defense. Don’t be shocked to see the blue bloods offer soon following a set of great showings this weekend.

Bol Bol – 2018 G/F/C – Mater Dei (CA) – California Supreme 17U
There’s not a player in the country like Bol Bol, who’s game makes you think he might be a created player on a video game. The 7’2 big man has unreal length to go along with guard skills. He can step out and knockdown 3s or finish at the rim with ease. There’s not much he can’t do at this level of basketball. Bol continues to get better and better, and has a strong chance to finish as a top 5 player in the country.

N’Faly Dante – 2020 C – Sunrise Christian (KS) – Mississippi Express 16U
There were few players who where more impressive than this big man from Sunrise Christian this weekend, so it was not surprising to hear LSU, Oklahoma, and St. John’s offered the dominate freshman. His coordination is great, as is his ability to alter everything that comes in the paint. He looks to be an elite player in a 2020 class that is beginning to introduce itself to the world.

Joe Girard III – 2019 PG – Glenn Falls (NY) – Albany City Rocks 17U
Coming from the same high school as Jimmer Fredette, it’s hard not to see some of his game in Girard. This smooth lead guard has in the gym range and as one coach told us, “He’s a 9/10 type shooter.” To go along with his great shot, his ability to run the offense and get shots for himself and others within the flow of the offense is impressive.  He is going to firmly insert himself on the national radar in the months to come.

Posh Alexander – 2020 PG – Our Savior Lutheran (NY) – NY Lightning 17U
There weren’t many freshman playing up in the EYBL this weekend, let alone starting and scoring in bunches at times. Enter Posh Alexander. The New York lead guard is fearless going to the rim and finishes around or through defenders. He is a pest on defends and excels getting backtaps. His size may hurt him at times, but this kid can flat out go.

Aidan Igiehon – 2019 PF/C - Woodmere Academy (NY) - NY Lightning 17U
If there was a kid who was totally off the radar, even with his good play this weekend, it was Aidan. The big fella had a great game against a loaded California Supreme frontline, finishing with 18 points and 7 rebounds in a great performance. Aidan finished multiple ferocious dunks in the paint and was active on the glass. The native of Ireland is going to be a force in time and is only scratching the surface on how good he can be. 

Will Richardson – 2018 SG – Liberty County (GA) – E1T1 Elite 17U
The lefty guard looked almost exactly the same this weekend as he did the last time we saw him, and that’s not a bad thing. Will is an absolute bucket getter, who scores both as a high level shooter and going to the rim. He is the primary scoring option for a good E1T1 squad that should be in contention for the Peach Jam title. We expect him to steadily rise up the ranks as one of the best scorers in the 2018 class.

Hunter Dickinson – 2020 C – DeMatha (DC) – Team Takeover 16U
Hunter was a huge reason why Team Takeover’s 16U group ran through everyone on their way to the 16U title this weekend. The big fella has great hands, soft touch, and runs well for his age. It’s scary to think about how good he can be in the future, but this weekend he dominated the paint in all the games he played. DeMatha has their next star.

Jalen Lecque – 2019 PG – Christ School (NC) – Southern Stampede 17U
A player not known by many heading into the weekend, Jalen left known by almost everyone. Averaging a smooth 20.8 points per game, we didn’t see a player who got buckets more effortlessly all weekend. He can take defenders off the bounce and finish at the rim, or can go to work in the post where he’s got a smooth turnaround jumper. Look for him to shoot up the national rankings by the time the summer rolls around.
