LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Once again the roster for Next Up Recruits Camp was loaded, and as a result everyone had something to prove. Whether it was top ranked players looking to show just how good they were or players lower down the list looking for a shot at the top in front of our staff, all the games were very competitive. Multiple national scouts were in attendance, including ESPN's John Stovall and The Hoop Scoop's Clark Francis. 

We want to thank everyone who was involved throughout the day in Louisville that helped make our camp a success once again.  

As follows are SOME of the top performers our staff got the chance to watch throughout the day:

Geoff Hamperien – 2017 G – University (WV)
Wherever we have seen him the last few months, Geoff has been getting buckets. Nothing had changed when he laced up his shoes for NUR Camp. This long and bouncy wing showed an ability to score with ease in transition, along with the ability to shoot and take defenders off the bounce. Low D1s and High D2s should hop on this sleeper immediately.

Cametre Chambers – 2018 G – Ooltewah (TN)
One of the day’s surprises, we had not seen Cametre before camp. His ability to score at the rack with the ball in his hands was his best asset. He also made plays for those around him. He looks like a good guard prospect out of Tennessee.

Jared Coomer – 2018 F – Barren County (KY)
Perhaps one of the biggest unknowns at camp, Jared came in and held his own. This lanky G/F showed an ability to knock down outside shots and take defenders into the paint to score. He has big upside and we think he could be one of the state’s biggest sleepers.

CJ Fredrick – 2018 G – Covington Catholic (KY)
As a product of the always loaded Covington Catholic program, many have not gotten to CJ display his full offensive game. He showed an ability to knock down shots from all over the floor while using his length on both ends of the court. He recently picked up offers from Winthrop and New Orleans.

David Sloan – 2017 PG – Louisville Ballard (KY)
As is often the case when surrounded by talent, David excelled at distributing the ball and being a play ahead at all times. He excels at setting up teammates for easy buckets while making tough plays. He is planning on playing his senior year at Ballard in Louisville.

Peyton Broughton – 2017 SG – North Laurel (KY)
Coming in like someone who had something to prove, Peyton brought his A game. He had one of the best plays of the weekend when he went baseline and smashed on a helpless defender in the paint. Along with that, he was spraying jumpers from all over the court and showing his potential as a high level scorer.

Danny Butt – 2018 G – Pulaski County (KY)
One of the most unique players in the entire camp, Danny excelled from behind the line and making easy plays for his teammates. He was part of maybe the best team in camp and is primed for a good performance in July.

Clayton Hughes – 2017 G – Hargrave Military Academy (VA)
The first thing that has to be said is that Clayton literally shut the camp down with a between the legs dunk during the top 20 all-star game. He was unstoppable going to the rim and when his jumper was going, unguardable. After deciding to go Post-Grad at national champ Hargrave Military, he should blow up with a strong performance there.

JJ Reed – 2018 F – Paducuh Tilghman (KY)
We’ve always loved this kid’s game but he came into camp with something to prove and did just that. His jumpshot was falling in the mid-range and opened up the ability to score using his length and athleticism. He was impressive to say the least and was one of the best players in the top 20 all star game.

Anthony Nelson – 2017 G – Cordia (KY)
At times, Anthony was completely unstoppable attacking the hoop. The southpaw used his athleticism and length to attack the basket and get easy buckets throughout the day. His jumper was inconsistent but it’s easy to see why he is regarded as one of the best rising seniors in the state.

Sasha Sukhanov – 2018 PF/C – Teays Valley Christian (WV)
A product of Russia via Teays Valley, WV, big Sasha came into camp as one of the best bigs to make the trip. He is very skilled and runs the floor extremely well for his size. Combo that with great hands and the ability to stretch the floor, and you’ve got a kid with big time potential.

Oumar Keita – 2018 PF/C – Cordia (KY)
Normally, Oumar brings the same things to the table every game out. On Saturday, he gave more offensively than normal and showed he has been in the gym working on his game. He dropped in a few hook shots while performing up to his standards on defense. He will have a big July.

Steven Fitzgerald – 2018 G – Pulaski County (KY)
This wing, who just was named as a top 100 player in the nation by Hoopseen, came into camp in attack mode. He scored from deep, in the paint, and at the rim in transition. He has the full package offensively and was very good during every moment he was on the court at camp. Coming off a recent offer from VCU, he is someone who could blow up in July.

Braxton Beverly – 2017 PG – Hargrave Military Academy (VA)
He was undoubtedly one of the top point guards on the list coming in and did everything he could to live upo to that lofty expectation. Coming off a season during which he scored 70 points in a game, he showed off his full offensive game as a scorer and a distributor. He has reopened his recruitment from Miami (OH) and will spend another year at Hargrave.

Devon Cooper – 2017 SG – Findlay Prep (NV)
Cooper is a consistent outside shooter with a strong fundamental skill set. A solid athlete who now shows a willingness to put the ball on the floor and get to the rim, Cooper must be more engaged on the defensive end of the floor and play with more energy.

Chris Vogt – 2017 C – Graves County (KY)
An elite rim protector, Vogt blocks or alters nearly every shot in his vicinity. Showcasing a more aggressive offensive game Vogt finished around the rim with strong dunks and ran the floor for easy transition baskets.

Devonta Guillory - 2017 G – John Hardin (KY)
Long and athletic guard who gets in the lane and can finish at the rim. Needs to add strength but is a very good on ball defender who uses quick hands to get steals and deflections.

Jacquess Hobbs - 2017 PG – Waggener (KY)
Hardnosed competitor who is a lockdown defender. At his best when attacking off the dribble but needs to improve outside shot. Low Major D1 prospect that was a unanimous All Star Selection but could not participate due to injury.

Kyle Stivers - 2019 G - Franklin County HS
Intriguing young prospect who can shoot the lights out. Needs to add strength and become more of a playmaker off the bounce.

Machi White - 2020 G – Louisville Moore (KY)
Explosive guard who will be one of the top incoming Freshman in the state. Does a good job finishing in traffic and shows a consistent floater. Needs to improve body language

Cam Maddox - 2017 G – Doss (KY)
Came out of nowhere to be one of the top kids at camp and a unanimous All Star. Relentless offensive player who has a throwback mid-range game and uses his strong frame to bully his way to the rim. Competitor who did not back down from anyone at camp.

Curt Lewis - 2018 G – Valley (KY)
One of the most athletic players at camp, Lewis tries to tear the rim off every opportunity he gets. A strong rebounder who uses length to get steals and deflections. Outside shot needs to improve.

Jalen Johnson – 2018 PG - Hopkinsville (KY)
Stat stuffing guard who creates for others but can also be a 20 plus a game scorer. Takes great pride in rebounding and defense and loves the challenge of guarding top notch talent. Point guard skills need to develop in order to reach full potential.

Caleb Hollander – 2017 F – Homeschool (TN)
A late addition to camp, Caleb is a surefire D1 player out of Tennessee. He is a skilled big man with the ability to stretch the floor with range to the 3 point line.  He knocked down shots from all over the floor and scored in the paint as well. He will run with Team Corey Brewer in July, so don’t be surprised to see his name pop up.

Dekeyvan Tandy – 2019 PG - University Heights Academy (KY)
Tandy has the quickest first step in KY and is possibly the toughest kid to stay in front of. He has some of the tightest handles around, great vision, and has an uncanny ability to score in bunches. Scores from all over. A top PG in his class nationally, he has a chance to be one of the best players out of Kentucky in quite some time. Oklahoma has offered already and more will come soon.

David Johnson – 2019 G - Trinity (KY)
David was one of the best and most impressive players in the entire camp. He is an athletic combo guard that has a solid handle with the rock and has great length. He can break you down off the dribble and create offense for himself and others. With the ability to consistently knock down the 3 with range... He is a very tough mismatch. He projects as one of the best players in Kentucky’s loaded 2019 class and could end up nationally ranked when its all said and done.

Michael Moreno – 2019 G/F – Scott County (KY)
Moreno is a big guard that is the ultimate mismatch. As of late he has shown that he is no longer in transition from a Forward to a Guard. The transition is done. Moreno can handle is well enough and can shoot the lights out from deep 3. His mid range game is nearly unstoppable and he will post up smaller defenders. Defensively he is versatile and can guard multiple positions comfortably. Not to mention, he is a rebound machine, which adds incredible value to his game.

Bryce Long – 2019 SG – Scott County (KY)
Long is a SG that cannot leave open. Not only did he knock down open shots at camp, but he created for others and showed his unselfishness. His handles continue to improve and that is the one area that we would love to see him tighten up. He will be one of the better 2019's when it's all said and done.

Adam Kunkel – 2018 SG – Cooper (KY)
Might as well give him the nickname , "The Bluegrass Sniper". This kid shoots the lights out and has the green light at all times. Kunkel hit a load of 3's at camp, including 9-10 in a game. Kunkel really had his coming out party this summer. Look for him to be ranked high in the 2018 KY ranks.

Jayden Scrubb – 2018 Wing – Trinity (KY)
Scrubb is another kid that is just hitting the recruitment scene in KY. After first seeing him at the KY AAU state tourney, I begged him to come to camp. He did NOT disappoint. Absolute freak athlete that is about to blow up this year. One of the best 2018 in KY. Nobody matches his athleticism and motor on the wing in the state. Jay can pat the rock and his pull up mid range is tough to defend with the separation that he creates and his elevation on his jump shot. He is elite defensively and on the boards. Upside and potential is through the roof.

Dontaie Allen – 2019 SG - Pendleton County (KY)
Long and athletic is what every scout wants to see these days. When you see Dontaie Allen you look no further. The long and athletic Guard continues to improve. The improvement from last years camp to his performance this year is night and day. He is no longer a secret, he is one of the best players in the state. Scores from all 3 levels. Versatile on both ends of the floor. Motor has gotten better and with that being said, watch out...because he is a problem on the court.
 

Tray Hollowell – 2017 PG - University Heights Academy (KY)
Tray is a strong and physical point guard. He is known as a kid that scores a lot and can score in bunches which is true and I feel that's a great asset to have at the next level for a PG. However, he has shown that he can play the role of a TRUE POINT GUARD. At one point he was leading the entire Adidas league in assists. If HM's would take this kid they will not regret. Hollowell can defend at the highest level and rebounds with the best guards in America. Wherever he ends up in college he will be successful, he is just too good of a basketball player not to be.

EJ Williams – 2018 PF/C -  Hargrave Military Academy HS (VA)
EJ has size that can not be taught. He is a mismatch in the post simply because he can over power you. Rebounding the ball is no problem as he is going to get anything that is close to his area.  He is very skilled in the post, a good passer with excellent vision, and a nice touch inside the paint. Once Williams continues to improve his body and athleticism. He is going to be that much better than he is right now.

Taveion Hollingsworth – 2017 PG/SG – Paul Laurence Dunbar (KY)
The best guard in the state at the moment. Hollingsworth has only gotten better and he just continues to get better. As of late he has showed that he can splash 3's with the best. He is now lethal from all 3 levels and has become virtually unguardable by anyone who is put in from of him. His length helps him be the high level defender that he is and his will to win is on another level as well. He is a great kid, a proven winner, and a flat out stud scorer.

Tavin Lovan – 2017 G - Franklin-Simpson (KY)
Lovan has had a rough summer with an ankle injury, but he has kept his head up and kept working to get his game better. Lacking his normal explosiveness, the power guard put in his work below the rim at camp. He showed good touch on his jump shot and he can handle better than many assume with his body style. Tavin is a special player and watch for him to destroy everyone in his path this upcoming season. He is a big sleeper in KY's 2017 class.

Timmy Dalton – 2017 G – Lawrence County (KY)
Dalton doesn't do anything great, but he does a lot of things extremely well. We honestly feel he's a true D1 sleeper and as his 3 ball continues to improve his stock rises. This guard lock down defender that is will defend multiple positions and be effective on and off the ball. At camp he showed off his vision and passing skills in transition which is something that has been needed in his game. Someone will get a steal when they recruit this kid.

Noah Cunningham – 2017 G – Madisonville North Hopkins (KY)
Noah seems to keep putting in hours in the gym and it shows when you watch him. He is a high IQ player that makes winning plays. Cunningham has a solid handle that we would love to see improve, but he can shoot and score with the best. He has a knack for putting the ball in the basket. Look for him to have a break out year in HS this season.
 

Jared Osborne – 2017 PG - Bullitt East (KY)
Jared is the consummate PG. Heady, vocal, crafty, and unselfish. This kid does one thing always and that's makes his teammates better. As long as he is running the show then the open man on the floor will get the shot. Osborne is the kid you want on your team because he will make you better. Looking forward to watching him with his HS this season after losing some good seniors in the 2016 class.

Korbin Spencer – 2019 PG – Elliot County (KY)
Korbin is one of the most up tempo style guards in KY and he is a joy to watch. As soon as he gets the ball he is gone full speed in transition and seems to always make the right read. This PG has great handles and good court vision. He can score when needed, but he is an unselfish guard that likes to get assists and make plays that will get him a win at the end of the game. Spencer had a good camp and has had a great summer. He's a top PG prospect in KY 2019 class.

James Baker – 2017 F – Meade County (KY)
One of our favorite players in KY, James Baker always shows up. He is a super athletic 4/3 that is working on his transition to be able to be most effective on the wing. This transition seems to be going well after watching him put it on the floor at camp and destroy opponents with his 17ft. jumper. A very solid D1 sleeper.

Tre King – 2018 F – Hargrave Military Academy HS (VA)
Tre showed off his jumper and scoring ability at camp. He knocked down shots from all over . Generally, King has been in the post, but he as shown that he can play out on the wing and he is transferring to Hargrave this season to further develop his skill set. With his physical attributes and his mind set, His move to Hargrave, where he will play on the HS team, will be extremely beneficial and he shall look like a completely different level of player 2 years from now.

Colton Fraley – 2020 PG – Pulaski County (KY)
Fraley is going to be one of the better PG's in his class. His court vision and handles are beyond his age. He is a floor general and gets from end to end quickly without hesitation. Looking forward to watching him progress.
 

Jared Courtney – 2020 PG - Franklin Co.
Courtney continues to get better. He played well at our Middle School event, being one of the best players in attendance and he held his own against some very good talent at this years HS camp. Jared can score with his jump shot, but is also crafty off the bounce and finishes in traffic with either hand. His skill set is very good for his age and he should get some solid Varsity minutes this year at Franklin County.

Junathean Cunningham – 2017 G – Jeffersontown (KY)
A quick and athletic PG that can get into the paint whenever he wants . Made a lot of plays at camp on both ends of the floor. One of the better defenders at the guard position in the camp. Cunningham can handle it and finish in traffic, once his perimeter jumper improves he will be even better. D2 schools should be all over this kid.

Carlos Marshall Jr. – 2017 W/F - Memphis Southwind HS (TN)
An athletic 6’5 wing who was in constant attack mode at camp and showed an ability to finish with contact. A consistent mid-range jump shot makes Marshall a match up nightmare and if his outside shot continues to improve he will be an all-around offensive threat. Marshall has the tenacity and physical tools to guard positions 1-4 and is a strong rebounder on both ends of the floor.

Gerald Gray Jr - 2018 G - Louisville PRP (KY)
Intriguing guard with a long wingspan and high basketball IQ. Shows flashes of being one of the top 2018’s in Louisville but must show more aggression on the offensive end of the floor.

Tre Brown - 2018 G - Louisville Male HS (KY)
Athletic guard who was not afraid to guard some of the top ranked players at camp. Has the ability to knock down mid-range and 3 pt. shot consistently. Ball handling and perimeter skill set need improvement.

Jordan Coleman - 2018 G - Fern Creek (KY)
Smooth offensive player who can score at all 3 levels. Has improved immensely since last year’s Next Up camp. Needs to get better playing off the ball.

Zach Hopewell - 2017 G - Apollo HS
Hopewell was one of the unknowns coming into camp. He competed hard in drill work and was killing the guard competition. He can score from all over, but has a knack for making plays in traffic. 

Hayden Shelton - 2018 PG - Apollo HS
Shelton is one of the better shooters in the 2018 KY class. However, he showed that he can put it on the floor and make plays at this years camp. His game is coming along and he is becoming more than just a shooter. This young guard has some upside , if he continues to work on his game, he could be one of the better guards in the 2018 KY class.
