Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Prep in Michigan might just have the next big name in basketball! Freshman sensation Trey McKenney has been putting on a scoring clinic all season long for the Eaglets as they are competing in the State quarterfinals this week. It seems like no matter how big of a stage this kid is performing on, he seems to always put on a show! All season long he has proved why he is one the best players in the country for the Class of 2025. The 6’4 Combo Guard is easily one of the most talented and skilled players in the class and he should be an automatic target for High Major D1 programs. We recently caught up with Trey and we were able to discuss how everything has been going for him!

Trey is obviously excited to be competing for a state championship at such a young age, and he feels that he has played pretty well this season. Coming from his exceptional play, the Freshman has picked up offers already from DepaulTempleTexasTCUEastern Michigan,IllinoisMichiganAlabama, and Mississippi State. With his already strong frame and good skillset, the sky is the limit for Trey and his game. He has already been on visits to Michigan, Michigan State, and Kansas unofficially and plans to visit more in the future.

As far as his future plans are concerned, Trey plans to be patient with the entire recruiting process and he will just let everything come before he jumps on anything. He told us that he has really enjoyed the whole recruiting process and that what he looks for most in a school is how established they are with academics and basketball and a school with rich history that is a winning program. He said he is looking for a program that really gets after it. With his high motor we are anxious to continue keeping up with his career and seeing what school he will land with! This Spring/Summer he will be playing in the Nike EYBL Circuit for Meanstreets out of Illinois. Expect to see a HUGE rise in his recruitment as he finishes out his high school season and then hits the grassroots tour. It looks to be a breakout time for him!
