6’7 Wing Dink Pate is going to be one of the highest rated recruits in his class before it is all said and done. The high level athlete is coming off a solid year at Prolific Prep (CA) where he was able to showcase his talents against some of the top players in the country before transferring back home to his original School Pinkston (TX), where he will finish out the remainder of his high school career. Originally from Dallas, TX, Dink is one of the most talented 16 year olds in the world. He has a long body and nice frame, he is very versatile, can defend multiple positions, and scores in high volumes on all three levels. A lot of people discovering him have compared his game to that of Anfernee ‘Penny’ Hardaway because of his vision and play making abilities. We recently caught up with the 6’7 W/F to discuss how things were going for him.

The high school season was a good one for Dink Pate this year because he was put on the best stage possible and he proved his worth. He felt that he played pretty solid, while also gaining ELITE experience and he told us, “I feel like my best basketball is ahead of me.” The ceiling is HIGH for this young prospect. Dink currently plays AAU for Urban DFW Elite (TX) in the Adidas 3SSB league, and they have started off the season strong, as they are currently undefeated after the first weekend!

Dink is currently getting recruited by ArizonaTexas A&MTCUHoustonLamarLSUOle MissSMUUT-ArlingtonTroyOklahoma StateOhio State, and New Mexico State. The rising Junior currently holds offers from ArizonaTexas A&MTCUHoustonLamarLSUOle MissWashington StateSMUUT-ArlingtonTroy, and New Mexico State! The sophomore has already been on visits to Texas A&M, TCU, SMU, Lamar, and Houston while he plans to schedule more soon. He told me that he is really enjoying the recruiting process so far, soaking it all in and just taking it one day at a time.

When I asked him what type of program he is looking for at the next level, Dink said, “A program that is big on offensive strategy and a coach that loves me for me and will allow me to be myself.” As far as a decision time comes, he plans to be patient with it all and to focus first on being the best high school basketball player he can be. So, we can expect a later commitment from Dink Pate as time moves forward. We are definitely excited to keep up with his progress and we are anxious to see who else offers him this Spring/Summer!
