Ballin' Under 1 Roof

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- This past weekend was spent in Louisville, Ky at the Fair & Expo center taking in the Ballin’ Under 1 Roof event. This tournament was jam packed with D2 coaches who were trying to find players to close out their 2020 recruiting class, and also get an early look at some 2021 prospects, and they came to the right place to get that done. Here are some of the teams and players we had a chance to watch during the event:

CKY Magic-Morton (2020)
6’1 PG Amirion Joyce-
Amirion played with good pace, penetrated to the basket consistently, and controlled the tempo of the game. Additionally, it is clear he handles the ball well off the bounc. He’s a tough defender, very athletic, and plays with a motor.

6’10 C Ray Suratt- Big Ray has really good footwork in the post and makes shots over both shoulders on the block. He’s a solid rim protector, has 18-20 foot range on jump shot that looks good, and keeps plays alive or just gets his hands on rebounds. He’s got some mobility and guarding issues when facing really athletic bigs but gets the job done, always competes.

6’7 PF Lincoln Bush – I like his length and how he runs the floor, he’s a very physical rebounder but with a long skinny body. Lincoln defends the ¾ man well, is a good help side defender. He catches and finishes in transition, makes plays in the post off entry passes, or rebound put backs.

Shining Star-Shannon Minor (2022)
6’2 PG Ross Pangallo –
An athletic player who has a quick first step, plays hard on both ends of the floor, and has a good body for his age. Ross is also a good all-around shooter.

6’5 Joel Iles – Joel is a knock down shooter from 3, has a good handle. We liked this slashing, rebounding wing.

6’2 CG Isaac Miller Strong guard that handles well with both hands, attacks the basket hard, and plays with winning energy.

6’5 Mitchell Rylee - A physical PF that can put it on the floor and rebounds a ton. Showed ability as a rim protector and finisher at the rim.

6’5 C Cameron Patterson – Undersiezd 5 man that runs well, rebounds everything. He is still polishing offensively but can score in the paint. Off a defensive rebound, he finds outlets and can also alter/block shots in the paint.

Central Ohio AAU (2022)
5’9 CG Adam Dunson
– Adam can play and create shots off the bounce. He really shoots the deep ball well off penetration kicks. He defends, is skilled ball handler.

Kentucky Elite (2020)
6’1 PG James Taylor
– James played the best I’ve seen him play, had a complete game working, played with really good pace, made really nice passes, made right & winning plays, motor never quit despite having 5 players all day, impressive day for Taylor.

1 Vision Academy (2020)
6’5 PF Luke Dewalt -
Surprisingly good vision for a forward, and is a solid passer. Luke is a physical player that plays tough every time out. He can shoot from mid-range & three, can create his own shot.

6’2 SG Cody Muller – Cody is a bucket from 3 (catch & shoot) and can put it on the floor as a straight line driver. He always plays hard and comes across as easy to coach.

5’10 PG Mason Rusch – Mason is a little undersized but no doubt one of the toughest lead guards I’ve seen all summer. He does it all with high intensity, is the ultimate competitor, and going to be a really good get for a D2 one day.

SMAC (2020)
6’0 PG Quentin Richardson
 - He pushes the tempo & plays well in transition. Clearly loves to play in attack mode, really quick handle and speed to match. Richardson probes/slashes to get in the paint or to the rim and is a physical finisher.

6’8 PF Hunter Drenth – He is an athletic 5 man, good in the post. Hunter has a good body/frame, stretches the floor, and rebounds out of his area.

6’2 G Steven Logan Jr – He is absolute work horse whose energy never dies. He runs hard in transition to score, penetrates gaps off the bounce, and finishes tough baskets. I watched him take over one of the games off energy/hustle plays alone.

6’1 PG Luke Howes – Howes was a solid and often unrattled lead guard for his SMAC squad all weekend. He kept his head under pressure, and made the right plays. His mid-range shot was consistent, and his three ball was good. He was a tough guard that made his team better.

Illinois Wolves (2022)
6’6 PF Peyton Lacombe
is a really long 4 man that is tough in the post battling for boards, and can guard his position well. He finishes good around the basket, and protects the rim on the defensive side of the ball. He is a really long prospect that looks to have a big time recruiting future.

6’8 C Kyle Thomas runs the floor really well, and will try to catch missed shot attempts off the rim and dunk them home hard. The big fella did a great job altering and blocking shots at the basket, and was a physical prowess rebounding the ball. He can finish tough shots at close range, and gets lots of rebound put backs. This is another really long prospect that looks to have a big time recruiting future.

Stamina (2023)
G Dre Vasser
Quick & shifty guard that can get by defenders with ease, has deep range on his shot and confidence to let it fly. Dre plays with an edge and loves to compete. He has grown quite a bit since we last saw him, and has good potential.

F Ben Hayes is a young warrior in the paint. He is one of the most physical rebounders we’ve seen in this young class. He attacks the glass likes he’s angry at the ball and snatches balls from the air. He is a developing scorer from the block area as well. He’s going to be a fun player to watch progress.

SG Markell Meriwether this quick handle having gurad, right now, is a cash ball from three. We didn’t see him miss when we watched him play. This young man is smooth in transition and can finish in the paint with both hands, and through contact.

All Ohio Cleveland (2020)
6’1 PG Deonte Benejan
is a very confident jump shooter that makes shots from all over the court, makes good decisions out of P-N-R situations, and attacks relentlessly off the bounce. He was impressive as he controlled the pace well, showed good ball control, and sound decision making. He was the leader on the floor, and created shots for himself and his teammates.

6’3 SG Jordan Jackson is an athletic wing that has good control going left or right, attacks driving lanes, finishes at the rim contact or not, pushes breaks, posts smaller defenders, and plays with his head up at all times.

EG10 Select (2020)
6’1 SG Elijah Ray
played more like a PG than a SG and was steady with good pace all game. He can pass, shoot the mid-range, and has a nice floater. He created for others, and has a developing 3 ball that will go in. Good defensive presence.

6’2 PG Jamari London played more like a CG always looking to get past defenders to the rim. He was on a mission to drive scoring lanes and draw defenders finishing tough shots and getting to the line. He has a quick first step, and deceptive handle with both hands. He loves to play downhill, and can get anywhere he wants with the ball.

Mokan (2020)
6’6’ SF Grant Stubbs
is a very solid 4 man prospect with a good body with long arms and can stretch the floor. Stubbs has solid footwork, is a good energy defender, and physical rebounder around the basket.

6’3 PF Byron Alexander long and athletic, high energy, anticipates and runs through passing lanes, runs, jumps, and finishes well in transition. Has the ability to slash and get to the rim in the half court setting, and is a good passer.
