PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- One of the biggest breakout performers of the summer was 2019 Woodstock Academy (MA) PF Tre Mitchell. After spending his first two years of high school at Elizabeth Forward (PA), just outside of Pittsburgh, he will head up to the NEPSAC to finish out his prep career.
Despite a previous announcement that he would head to Woodstock and finish as a 2020, that is no longer the plan. “I plan on staying in 2019, I don’t think I will need the extra year”
The big fella has one of the most unique games we’ve seen. Despite standing 6’10, he has a good handle and often brings the ball up the floor after a defensive rebound. Mitchell has the ability to score on the block, or step out and hit 3s with his feet set. He passes the ball at a high level and, no matter where he’s put on the floor, makes the game easier for those around him. He is highly skilled and one of the more versatile bigs in the Midwest.
When asked what part of his game he felt was the best, he told us “My ability to be a playmaker from anywhere on the floor. I’m very versatile.”
Following a great summer playing with an under-the-radar Bridge City 2019 (PA) squad, Tre created a buzz for himself and showed that he has a blend of potential and production that college coaches crave.
The versatile playmaker has offers from Mt. St. Mary’s, Manhattan, Duquesne, Canisius, Penn State, Central Connecticut, and NJIT along with interest from St. Joseph’s and Richmond. As he continues to develop and showcase his skills in one of the best leagues in the country, more offers will follow.
“This year I want to grow as a player and do some damage in the NEPSAC.”
