2017 KY Star seeing a ton of interest

2017 SG Peyton Broughton

LONDON, Ky. -- Over the course of a big junior season in which he is averaging right around 21 points per game, Peyton Broughton has seen some schools of various levels lock in on him.

While recruiting isn't yet at the forefront for the junior shooting guard, he has been talking to Clemson, Tennessee, UAB, EKU, NKU, South Alabama, Lehigh, and Toledo. He's visited UAB, Clemson, and EKU unofficially during the season and had similar thoughts about all his visits. "All the schools had great facilities and I had a really good time at all of them."

The junior off-guard has a knack for scoring the ball but isn't a volume scorer. He can create off the dribble and is finishing more inside than he has previously. His stroke is streaky from deep but he is automatic inside the arc and is a good defender as well.

His goals for the rest of high school season, where his team is 19-4, are not unlike most players across the country. "I want to win out and get to Rupp and the state tournament. We just want to win." North Laurel has a good shot to make it out of the 13th Region and earn one of 16 spots in the Kentucky state tournament.

He is still open with his recruiting heading into AAU season where he will run with Team Manimal on the ADIDAS Gauntlet circuit. He told me, "This AAU season is my last go around, I just want to have fun and show the player I am. I'm going to make the most of it."

In our most recent viewing of Peyton, he dropped 29 in a variety of ways. We expect him to bring it and show why he has been highly recruited during this AAU season.
