Simpson gains big ten offer

The class of 2016 in Ohio is one of the best in recent memory, and the offers continue to come in for those that have not committed, with the latest being King James point guard Xavier SImpson picking up an offer from Wisconsin. The Lima-native had already taken the first of his official visits to Iowa State a few weeks past, but this new offer may stir the pot a bit for the four-star guard.

Simpson had his official visit list set up already, but the Badgers may cause a change in those plans, as he had officials to Illinois (this weekend) and Miami (Sept. 11) along with the one already taken to Iowa State.

davis verbals to washington

Just a couple of days after Markelle Fultz had committed to Washington, 2017 guard Daejon Davis joined him by verbaling to play for Coach Romar and the Huskies.

Davis is the 48th-ranked prospect in ESPN's top 60 for the 2017 class, and he is the first commit in the class for the Huskies. The shooting guard also held offers from Washington State, Nevada, and California before choosing Washington.

espn releases new rankings

The 2016 Top 100 rankings have been released by ESPN today, with the top three of Harry Giles, Jayson Tatum, and Josh Jackson staying the same. Kentucky's own Quentin Goodin has cracked into the rankings at 94.

Ohio is well represented in the Top 100, with six players included. FIve of the six are committed to a school with:

• Michigan State's Nick Ward, No. 40
• Ohio State's Derek Funderburk, No. 46,
• Syracuse's Matt Moyer, No. 56,
• Cincinnati's Jarron Cumberland, No. 65,
• Xavier Simpson, No. 66
• Ohio State's Micah Potter, No. 99

Other news and notes

• After decommitting from Arizona, 2016 F TJ Leaf now has set four in-home visits, Scout says. After UCLA on Sept. 9, Indiana will get their shot on Sept. 10, with Gonzaga following on Sept. 13, and Kansas rounding it out on Sept. 14. Leaf had 14 points and seven rebounds over the weekend in the Elite24 game.
• More official visits are being set, this time for Huntington Prep-star Miles Bridges, and they feature some of the traditional powers, as North Carolina (Oct. 24), and Kentucky (Oct. 16) are among those, including Michigan State (Sept. 12).
• 2017 G Devontae Shuler has transferred from Irmo (SC) to Oak Hill Academy for his junior year, per his Twitter.
