Funderburk picks Hargrave; Miller transfers to 22ft; Elite24 Recap

Welcome to the brand new looking NextUpRecruits.com, and welcome to our latest bi-weekly installment, the NextUp Report. We will take you around the high school and college basketball landscape giving you the news and notes on this early Tuesday morning.

Funderburk goes prep route

With high-school transfers being all the rage these days, we can add another one to the list as 2016 forward Derek Funderburk has changed schools, transferring to Hargrave Military Academy from St. Edward's (OH). The Ohio State-commit had previously told us that he was leaving St. Ed's, but there was no confirmation as to where the future Buckeye was going to land.

"At the end of the day, my dad told me deep down in my heart I know what I need to do," Funderburk told NextUpRecruits.

Funderburk settled down at Hargrave this past weekend after some thought he would land at Montverde, where he also took a visit to.

"My choices were Montverde and Hargrave, but less distractions for me at Hargrave," Funderburk told NextUpRecruits.

The King James forward averaged 10 points, six rebounds, and a block per game during this EYBL season.

Miller goes from dII to 22FT

As mentioned above, the transfer window is cracked wide open for high schoolers wanting to make a final change, but this time it's a post-grad move making news, as former Owensboro-native Justin Miller completed his transfer to 22FT Academy on Monday, announcing on our site.

“Ever since I was in the 8th grade I have had an important goal set for myself. That goal is to play at the Division I level and to be able to compete and make an impact there as well," MIller told NextUpRecruits.

A forty-pound change will also help Miller be successful for 22FT right away.

"My body has changed so much," Miller said. "If I keep working on my jumper and putting the ball on the floor so that I can have a face up game, I truly feel that I will accomplish my goal."

Adebayo, jackson impress at elite 24

As noted above in the header video, top-ranked 2016 prospect Josh Jackson was a dominant force over the weekend, winning Under Armour's Elite24 dunk contest MVP along with co-game MVP honors as Team Doo Be Doo defeated Team EZ Pass 111-110 on Saturday night.

Jackson finished with 12 points and seven rebounds in the victory, and his teammate Edrice "Bam" Adebayo had 21 points and 12 rebounds. The two shared the award.
