Robert Jones has grown into one of the hottest names in the country and he recently talked with NextUpHayden about how his recruitment has been going. The 6’3 Combo Guard from Pensacola, Florida is currently living in Aubrey, Texas attending John Paul II, where he is coming off a very strong Junior season with the Cardinals. The rising senior averaged 20 PPG, 5 RPG, 3 APG, & 2 SPG his Junior year and has continued to put up numbers this Spring running with JL3 Elite (TX) on the Nike EYBL Circuit. 

During all the recruiting buzz, RJ likes to try and stay locked in and focused. He mentioned that he trains with NBA Trainer Tyler Relph a lot in his free time to make sure he is working at the highest level. 

Currently ranked as the #7 CG in the country by 247Sports.com, he holds 17 offers coming from: Missouri, Old Dominion, Illinois, UTRGV, Tulsa, TCU, USC, St. Louis, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, California, Prairie View A&M, Xavier, Kansas State, & SMU. Outside of his offers, several other Power 5 schools have started to get in the mix with RJ because of how well he is performing on the Circuit. Arkansas, Kansas, Michigan, Arizona State, Notre Dame, Kentucky, Virginia, and North Carolina have all expressed interest in him recently. He shared that the schools recruiting him the hardest right now are California, TCU, Kansas State, Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma State & St. Louis. And as far as a favorite, RJ says “I like them all just for being interested in what I can bring to the table”. 

As Far As Visits:

RJ has already been on two official visits, one to California & another to Texas A&M. He took two unofficial visits to TCU & Oklahoma State. Right now, he is currently setting up other visits with Kansas State, Xavier, & Boise State and he is already scheduled to have his official visit at TCU on June 10th. 

Decision Time?

When it comes to a decision time, he tells me he plans to decide by early August or before his Senior year starts.

Strengths of his game?

When I asked RJ what he thought his biggest strengths were, he told me, “I would say my greatest strength is scoring the ball on multiple levels”. He likes to pattern his game after Bradley Beal, CJ McCollum, and Paul George. 

Evaluation:

“RJ is a high-level competitor & the type of kid that every coach wants on there roster. He is an on-ball shot creator that can shoot the lights out from deep, make plays off the bounce for himself and his teammates, and he can go down on the other end of the floor and lock you up on defense. He has range from anywhere on the floor and he can hit his shots with or without having to put the ball on the floor. He plays with a great feel and has great ball control/pace.
